It was a moment Allison Barron and Levi Bliss would remember for the rest of their lives.

No, we’re not talking about Levi’s proposal — although that was certainly memorable, too. We’re talking about the moment Allison’s dad, who was standing off in the distance, held a sign instructing his daughter to “Say no.”

“This is really just my dad’s personality,” Allison told Buzzfeed News, assuring the site that, yes, her father Jake was only joking. “We have a very close family and so he’s made little jokes like this before.”

Allison and Levi, of Winnemucca, Nev., had been dating for two years before he popped the question this past Saturday, but Allison claims her father always approved of Levi. In fact, according to Allison, Jake and Levi actually get along quite well, and that the two often enjoy playing tennis and riding dirt bikes together.

“We both know my dad so well, we got the joke right away and found it funny,” said Allison, who added that she was actually in tears as Levi was proposing, but broke out into laughter after seeing her father and his sign.

The Internet, too, has been having a good laugh at Jake’s sign. Allison tweeted out photos from her engagement following Levi’s proposal, and they’ve since racked up over 223,000 likes.

Oh, and for anyone wondering, Allison ‘ignored’ her father’s wishes and said yes.

Scotch drinkers, meet Jane Walker.

For the first time ever, the top-hatted man who appears on bottles of Johnnie Walker whiskey is being replaced by a woman.

Johnnie Walker, which is owned by liquor giant Diageo, said Monday that it will launch a special edition of its Black Label blend next month featuring the female logo.

“As a brand that has stood for progress for nearly 200 years, Johnnie Walker is proud to take this next step forward by introducing Jane Walker as another symbol of the brand’s commitment to progress,” it said in a statement.

Priced around $34, the special edition bottles will go on sale in the U.S. in March to coincide with Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.

It’s the latest effort to feminize a well known brand. Last month, country music star Reba McEntire was cast as KFC’s first woman to play its iconic pitch person, Colonel Harland Sanders.

While some people applauded Diageo’s efforts, some women said they found it patronizing or cynical.

“Let’s be SO equal we need a specific bottle. How are people this stupid. HOW?” tweeted Ashley K. Wilt.

“I don’t see this as a symbol of gender equality,” wrote Diana Pardo, whose Twitter biography describes her as a communications consultant. “All I see is a marketing strategy to increase sales.”

The situation wasn’t helped by comments a Johnnie Walker executive made about the initiative.

“Scotch as a category is seen as particularly intimidating by women. It’s a really exciting opportunity to invite women into the brand,” Vice President Stephanie Jacoby told Bloomberg.

“I’m no feminist but I do not need a woman on a bottle to tell me it’s ok to drink it!” tweeted Jennifer Masson.

Others felt the critics were taking things too far.

“First you complain how male-centric brand logos are,” wrote Agamoni Ghosh. “When something like #JaneWalker is introduced, you cry foul about how they are trying too hard.”

Johnnie Walker said it will donate $1 for every bottle of the Jane Walker Edition it makes to organizations that champion women’s causes, up to a limit of $250,000.

Sweating in the heat is perfectly natural and nothing to be overly embarrassed about, because some people just sweat more than other people. If you do sweat so much that it is becoming a problem for you, your first port of call should be your doctor, because there are treatments for severe cases of excessive sweating. For most of us, though, sweating is inconvenient and it can be a bit embarrassing, but there are things that you can do to reduce it. Here are ten really simple tips on how to stop excessive sweating on a hot day.

1. Cut down on salt

What you eat will affect how much you sweat, and the first thing to cut down on, if you want to sweat less, is salt. When you eat too much salt, your body reacts by sweating more as a way to get that excess salt out of your system. We all eat way too much salt anyway, because it is already added to many foods, so stop adding more salt to your food at the table and you should find that you sweat less.

2. Wear loose fitting clothes

If you wear tight clothes the air can’t circulate over your skin, and that will make you sweat a lot more. When the weather goes hot, wear loose fitting clothing and then the air will cool you down and dry off some of the sweat.

3. Drink lots of water

If you are someone who sweats a lot on hot days, then it’s important that you replace the fluids you are losing through sweating or you may become dehydrated. Drinking water will also keep your body temperature down and help to reduce the sweating. Doctors recommend that everyone should drink eight glasses of water a day but, on very hot days, you will need even more.

4. Avoid spicy foods

This is another good tip on how to stop excessive sweating. Very spicy foods will make anyone sweat, even on a cool day, so, if you do sweat a lot you would be better off if you avoid spicy foods altogether. Capsaicin, which is what gives things like peppers and chillies their heat, sends a signal to the brain, telling it that you are overheating, and that will trigger more sweating.

5. Take it easy

Rushing around will make you sweat more, so plan your day so that you have plenty of time to get to where you need to be. That’s especially important to bear in mind if you are going somewhere like an important meeting or a job interview. Give yourself more time to get places and you will feel more composed when you get there and you will sweat less.

6. Wear breathable fabrics

Man-made fabrics, like acrylic and polyester, trap the heat and the sweat and just make you sweat even more. Check the labels on all the clothes you buy and look for natural fabrics, like cotton, linen and silk. Natural fabrics let the air get to your skin, which will cool you down, and they draw the moisture away from your skin so that it can evaporate into the air.

7. Drink sage tea

Another good tip on how to stop excessive sweating is to drink sage tea. Sage is well-known for its ability to reduce sweating and sage extract tablets are often recommended by doctors to treat people with severe excessive sweating. You can get the same benefits, by drinking sage tea regularly. It’s easy to make. You just add a teaspoon of dried sage into some boiling water and let it steep for a few minutes. If you want to sweeten it a bit, just add a teaspoon of honey.

8. Apply antiperspirants at the right time

You can switch up to stronger antiperspirants to control sweating and, if the sweating is very severe, your doctor may recommend prescription strength antiperspirants. Whatever the strength of antiperspirant you use, it will work a lot better if you apply it before you start sweating, or even the night before. To work properly, an antiperspirant needs to soak into the sweat glands and it can’t do that if you are already sweating.

9. Drink less alcohol

An ice cold alcoholic drink might cool you down in the short term, but if you drink too much alcohol on a regular basis, it will make you sweat more. Your body reacts to excessive amounts of alcohol in the same way as it does to salt; it tries to sweat it out of your system. Initially, alcohol will dehydrate you, but come the next morning, you will find that you sweat more as your body tries to cleanse itself.

10. Try lemon juice instead of antiperspirants

Another tip on how to stop excessive sweating is to try lemon juice. If you are not a big fan of store-bought antiperspirants, lemon juice will work quite well as a natural alternative. Squeeze out the juice of a lemon and then apply it under your arms before you go to bed. It will help stop you sweating the next day and it smells nice too.

You spend half your day and more than 40 hours a week in office, so it’s obvious that you will get friendly with your colleagues. However tiny little things can infuriate your colleague, make sure you are not doing any of these.

Don’t talk loudly: Why do you have to shout at the top of your voice when you’re talking to someone on the phone? It not only irritates and disturbs the people around you but it also classifies you as a bad colleague. So please, keep your voice at a moderate level and let others do their work.

Don’t look for a best friend: Professional and personal relationships are two different things and it’s best if they are kept separate. Don’t try to look for a BFF in your colleague, it could lead to discomfort.

Don’t be the boss’ pet: This may not seem so bad when you think about it the first time, after all everyone wants to become the boss’ favourite. But think about the message you’re giving the rest of your colleagues, and the ways in which they might misunderstand you. Remember how you hated the teacher’s pet in school?
Don’t peep into someone’s computer: This is perhaps the most annoying habit one can have, but sadly, most people do it without realising it. Peeping into your colleague’s computer and trying to catch a glimpse of the email they are writing or the sites they are surfing only means that you have no regard for other’s personal space and you don’t respect their right to privacy. If you don’t like it when someone does it to you, why do it to someone else?
Don’t discuss salaries: No one likes discussing their salaries, whether they are paid more or less. So talking about your salary or asking someone else about theirs is a complete no-no! Along with that, try and control any comments on finances as well, it’s simply not your business, so please stay away.

A lot of people absolutely love a cup of milk, while others are absolutely put off by even the idea. But whether you drink milk by itself, or whether you use it in your cereal, in your tea and coffee, or even in your scrambled eggs, milk is just one of those things you can’t get away from. You can drink it hot or cold, and you can either order it online or have it delivered to your door by your milkman. But what about the things you don’t know about milk? Milk is full of surprises, and to find out more let’s take a look at the 10 things you didn’t know about milk.

Milk is in your favourite alcoholic beverages

That’s right, when you go out at night and order a Malibu on the rocks, there is a real possibility that the bartender has slipped some milk in there. And if you order a White Russian, the bartender will definitely slip some milk in there. The White Russian contains vodka and milk, and tastes spectacular. This means that when you go on a night out with the girls, you can still fill up on nutrients!

The queen of England drinks milk everyday

And she’s one of the healthiest people alive in the world today. Yup, Queen Elizabeth II drinks a cup of milk daily to maintain her health. The only snag is that she doesn’t drink the same kind of milk as you and I – she drinks fresh milk that her cows have raised in her own garden.

Milk is pleasantly nutritious

Milk is one of the most nutritious drinks you can have, and it comes with the vitamins A, D and B12, plus a whole wealth of minerals, including potassium, magnesium, zine, calcium and protein. This means that a cup of milk a day is fantastic for helping to keep you fit and healthy.

More mucus

There is conflicting advice on this one. In one corner, there are experts who say that you should drink less milk to banish a cold, whilst there are experts in the other corner who argue that you should drink more milk, especially if you’re suffering from congestion. The reason for the disparity is that milk increases the production of mucus. So it’s up to you to choose.

Chocolate milk is healthy

You’ve seen chocolate milk in the supermarket, haven’t you? Perhaps you’ve refrained from ever trying it because you thought it was unhealthy? After all, chocolate milk has got chocolate in it, so it can’t be very good for you, right? Wrong! Chocolate is rich in cocoa, which is rich in flavorins that improve the health of our heart. Chocolate combined with milk is actually a winning combination.

Natural sugars and milk go together like brad and angelina (well, when they were married)

Ever heard the John Lennon album Milk and Honey? John knew that milk goes well with natural sugars, so he went and made an album all about it. Okay, the album isn’t actually about milk, but the fact remains that natural sugars are the perfect companion to milk and pairing them together is great for your health.

Ice cream without milk is not ice cream

It’s just a block of ice. Milk makes up 60% of the content of ice cream, so it’s pretty essential. Indeed, there was an English ice cream maker who produced a variety of ice cream composed of a woman’s breast milk. Sounds strange? Well, yes. It does.

Cleopatra loved a milk bath

Cleopatra was known to bathe in fresh milk on a regular basis for the purpose of skin rejuvenation. She even had donkeys to travel with her on long journeys, so that she could have her favourite bath on the go. If you want to read more about Cleopatra’s beauty secrets click here.

Milk is never handled by farmers

And we’re pretty sure you’re glad to hear this! Dairy farmers have to follow a number of steps to make sure the sanitary regulations of milk collection from cows are observed, and as a result they never actually touch it with their hands, as it makes its way from the cow to the buyer. And because we’re guessing you don’t actually touch milk with your hands either (who does?) this means that milk is pretty much NEVER touched by human hands. Amazing.

Milk is mostly water

Milks is really creamy, but it’s up to 95% water. Everything else is protein, vitamins, carbs and fat.

Organic milk is as good as regular milk

A lot of people make a big deal about organic living – and rightly so – but in terms of nutrients and actual quality, there is no major difference between regular and organic milk. So if you’ve always drank regular and are considering making the switch for health reasons, our advice is that it isn’t really necessary.

Stay happy and healthy!

Most of us get around 20% of our water content from food, but the ideal would be to eat the right foods and drink enough water throughout the day, so that we stay properly hydrated. See, dehydration is bad. When we’re not hydrated, we feel tired, we develop a headache, and our skin loses its glow. We also get moody and irritable and we’re not ourselves. Moreover, we’re not able to perform at our optimum.

Dehydration happens to us all. If you’ve ever been deathly hungover and felt as though you could drink a river, you were dehydrated. We can’t rely on just water alone to keep us hydrated, especially after a workout. If we don’t eat the right foods, we’ll can start to feel tired and low in energy. Let’s take a look at 10 amazing foods that help you stay hydrated and refreshed.

Watermelons

It’s hardly surprising that this low fibre fruit tops the list. After all, the clue is in its name! True enough, watermelons are packed with water – as much as 92%. That’s a lot. Watermelons also contain 8% sugar, which is not a bad thing. In fact, its sugar and mineral salt content is what makes it so good at keeping us hydrated. Watermelons also contain potassium, magnesium and sodium, all of which contribute to its status as a superstar fruit that quenches our body’s thirst.

Not sure how to eat watermelon? Enjoy it as part of a salad, or just munch on it alone in the morning at breakfast time with a cold glass of orange juice. What a way to start the day!

Cucumbers

This is one of the most well known foods that help you stay hydrated. If watermelons’ 92% water content wasn’t enough for you and you’d prefer to be even more hardcore, try cucumbers. They contain as much as 96% water, which makes them the perfect go-to snack if you’re hungover or you’re recovering from a punishing workout. In fact, cucumbers are a better source of water than water itself because it delivers the same levels of hydration at twice the volume of H2O. This is down to its natural sugars and mineral salts, which copy your body’s electrolyte balance. All the water is inside the body of the cucumber, though, which means that to get the best results you’ll need to peel off its skin. That said, its skin is where all the fibre is. Choices, choices!

Courgettes

Courgette also deserve to be included into our list of foods that help you stay hydrated. They look like cucumber, contain almost as much water, and are excellent in a Mediterranean diet.

Chicken Noodle Soup

When you were feeling under the weather as a kid and needed hydrating, what did your mom give you? If she was anything like all the other moms, she would have given you chicken noodle soup. A perfect winter warmer, chicken noodle soup is also a great way to restore vital fluids in your body. It fights the flu by keeping you hydrated, and contains enough carbs to make sure you absorb all the sodium it’s providing you.

Bananas

Bananas give you more energy than almost any other fruit. They’re the snack of choice for superstar tennis players because they’re rich in potassium, which helps to hydrate you because it’s an electrolyte. An imbalance of these guys can cause dehydration, which means that you don’t need to be a genius to work out that more bananas equals more hydration.

Iceberg Lettuce

Another one of great foods that help you stay hydrated is iceberg lettuce. Just looking at it is enough to make us feel fresher! Okay so iceberg lettuce isn’t as nutritiously dense as other leafy grains (such as spinach), but it’s still worth adding to your diet thanks to its high water content, as well as its high fibre, vitamin K and folate content. It can be a bit boring to the taste, however, which is why you need to add it to some really cool and tasty sandwiches and salads. Chicken salad is good, while adding a few slices of iceberg lettuce to a burger or taco is another amazing option.

Eggplant

If you’re looking to stay hydrated and lose weight at the moment, it’s time to start eating more eggplant. Eggplant is a strange looking vegetable, but once you’ve opened it up and fried it, you’ll be met with a delicious, fibre-rich delicacy that should be a must on everyone’s grocery list. Because it’s rich in water and fibre and low in calories, it makes for the ideal weight loss food.

Radishes

Radishes are such a gorgeous root vegetable that we just can’t believe more people don’t eat them, they are also part of fabulous foods that help you stay hydrated. One of the forgotten ones, radishes are super duper refreshing and make an excellent addition to your summer and spring dishes. And unlike a lot of the options on this list, they have a spicy kick to them that provides an extra kick to your meals. Even better, radishes are stuffed with important antioxidants, including the catechin compounds that’s found in green tea, too. Slice and dice them, and add to your salads and sandwiches this summer. Lovely!

Celery

Be careful with celery, as it’s one of the few vegetables that people can actually be allergic to (yep, as weird as it sounds, celery can actually kill you if you’re allergic). On the good side, celery is crammed with water and contains almost no calories. In fact, it has just six calories for each stalk. Despite this, it’s a good source of fibre, so will help to keep you feeling full for longer. It also contains vitamins A, C and K, as well as folate.

Tomatoes

One of the most popular fruits there is, tomatoes also need to be mentioned in our list of foods that help you stay hydrated, and you don’t need us to remind you to eat more of them. But just in case you do, here is why you should eat more of this luscious as red lipstick fruit: Tomatoes are rich in selenium, high in water (their water content is 94.5%), and they add colour and flavour to SO many different dishes. Literally, you can add them to pizzas, salads, sandwiches, breakfasts, wraps, burgers, soups, smoothies…pretty much anything you can think of! Forget everything else, tomatoes are the real foods that add beautiful colour to any dish.

If you’re starting to get serious about your diet, magnesium will be a key mineral you’ve heard about. In this article, Beauty and Tips gives you the lowdown on what magnesium is, why it’s so important, and the top 10 magnesium rich foods to include in your diet.

Magnesium is super duper important. It has a role to play in just about every single bodily process, including insulin regulation and metabolism. If you don’t get enough magnesium into your body, you could suffer from all kinds of troubling ailments, including heart disease, diabetes and Alzheimer’s. As you can already tell, magnesium is pretty important. But what is it exactly? Magnesium is a mineral that, like all minerals, is found in nature. It’s your body’s fourth most-needed mineral, with most of it stored away in your bones. The thing is that, because magnesium isn’t included in all healthy foods, it’s possible for you to enjoy an otherwise healthy diet and lifestyle but still be magnesium deficient. To make sure that doesn’t happen any time soon, let’s check out the 10 magnesium rich foods you need to include in your diet.

Dark Chocolate

Who said getting more magnesium into your system had to be boring?! Dark chocolate might be super indulgent and a bit of a guilty pleasure but it’s also heart-healthy and an excellent source of magnesium. Eat a small serving of dark chocolate per day for just under 20% of your daily recommended amount of magnesium. Chocolate has a bit of a bad reputation but eaten in small doses (two squares per day), dark chocolate provides some wonderful health benefits. As well as magnesium, it’s also rich in manganese, copper, iron and, of course, taste. Yum! It’s also got lots of antioxidants which combat free radicals, thereby saving you from potential long-term disease.

Blackberries

No one needs to give up snacking, but a lot of us need to start snacking smarter. Instead of gorging on candy bars, greasy chips and sugary treats, we need to start turning to healthier snacks. Step forward blackberries! Not only are blackberries just as tasty as candy, they’re also rich in antioxidants and magnesium. Just one cup contains around 28mg of this essential mineral. Awesome. Blackberries can help you bring down your bad cholesterol levels, and they strengthen teeth and bones. If you want, you can munch on them out of your hand, or you can add them to a morning bowl of oatmeal. Both are wins.

Okra

Okra seeds are also one of fabulous magnesium rich foods. A cup contains around 60mg of the essential mineral, which is also rich in iron, vitamin B6, vitamin C and vitamin A. Okra prevents oxidative damage and strengthens your immune system.

Beans and Lentils

Beans and lentils are complete proteins. The more you eat of them, the fuller you’ll feel and the more magnesium you’ll have in your system. Just a single cup of soybeans contains around 85mg of magnesium. This equates to over 20% of your daily recommended amount. Not bad, huh?! Lentil soup is a good option for when you want a light meal or snack. Other beans you should start adding to your list of groceries include pinto beans, garbanzo beans, chickpeas, black-eyed peas, French beans and white beans.

Nuts

Some people absolutely love nuts, and you know why? Because nuts are both tasty and nutrient dense. This means that what tastes good can also be super good for you! Just a 28g serving of cashews is enough to get you 20% of your daily recommended amount of magnesium. Not bad, huh?! Nuts in general are good sources of beneficial fat and fibre, and they can lower cholesterol while regulating blood sugar levels. The best nuts for magnesium are Brazil nuts, almonds and cashews.

Bananas

Bananas also deserve their place in amazing magnesium rich foods, they are massively popular in the western world. Most people know them for their potassium content, but a single banana also arms you with just less than 10% of your daily recommended amount of magnesium. That’s pretty good when you consider that you can polish off a banana as an afternoon snack in minutes. Bananas also contain beneficial antioxidants, fibre, vitamin C, and they lower high blood pressure and bring down bad cholesterol. Excellent.

Avocados

Everyone is eating avocados at the moment, from hipsters to your grandmother. They go with so many different types of dishes, from guacamole to scrambled eggs. As well as being so versatile, avocados are also one of good magnesium rich foods. A single mid-sized avocado is enough to stock you up on around 15% of your daily recommended amount of this key mineral. Avocados’ nutritional profile also includes good fats, vitamin K and B vitamins, as well as fibre.

Blackstrap Molasses

If you need to ween yourself off sugar, blackstrap molasses is magnesium-rich alternative. It contains 48mg of the essential mineral per tablespoon and also contains selenium, calcium, iron and B-complex vitamins.

Seaweed

Ever tried seaweed before? If you’ve eaten in a Japanese restaurant or lived in Japan, there’s a good chance you have. If you’ve never tried it before and are wondering why in the heck we’d tell you to try seaweed, get this: Seaweed contains a massive 120mg of magnesium for every 100 gram serving. That’s pretty mega. Seaweed is also rich in iron, vitamin C and calcium, which makes it pretty nutrient dense. As a bonus, seaweed doesn’t contain many calories. In fact, a single serving contains as little as 20 calories. This means that if you’re on a low calorie diet right now, you can totally eat more seaweed. It goes well with salads, poultry, salmon and tuna. Mhmm!

Passion Fruit

Not sure about seaweed? Try passion fruit instead. No one who has ever tried passion fruit surely says they didn’t like it. It’s delicious, low in calories and a single serving contains around 5mg of magnesium. Passion fruit is a good source of flavonoids, vitamin A, copper, iron and potassium, too.

Natural skin care products are often even more effective than the chemicals packed store bought ones. So let’s take a look at some very useful beauty tips that might help you find out how you can use natural ingredients that are hiding in your kitchen.

1. Brighten skin with turmeric

You can choose to use natural products on your skin, and they are a lot more cost effective and much kinder to your skin than store bought treatments are. Turmeric, for example, is a great antiseptic that will reduce scars and blemishes and lighten the tone of your skin. To use this age old natural skin treatment, mix some turmeric powder into a fine paste with some fresh pineapple juice. Apply the paste to your face and leave it on until it has dried, and it will fight infection, reduce inflammation, and fade any marks or scars you might have.

2. Tone your skin with cucumber

Cucumber is one of the most simple, yet amazing homemade beauty treatments, it has astringent and hydrating properties, all in one neat natural product. You can improve the overall appearance of your skin by simply rubbing your face with thickly cut slices of cucumber. It will rehydrate the skin, remove some of the dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling fresh and looking great.

3. Use teabags to get rid of puffy eyes

When you’ve had a late night, then teabags are the fastest away to reduce puffiness around the eyes and lighten dark circles. Save the teabags when you next have a cup of green tea and chill them in fridge. The caffeine and tannin in teabags act to tighten the skin around the eyes and reduce swelling. Just hold the cooled down teabags over your eyes for ten minutes and your eyes will look wide awake and fresh again.

4. Use olive oil to remove makeup

Olive oil is another one of great homemade beauty treatments, it is just great for removing makeup and it does your skin the world of good too. Just put a few drops of olive oil on some cotton wool and then wipe away your makeup at the end of the day. It won’t clog your pores, it will nourish your skin, and it also contains vitamins A, E and other antioxidants that will help keep your skin looking younger for longer.

5. Try an avocado face mask

The healthy fats in avocado make an ideal skin treatment and celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Kim Kardashian are said be regular users of homemade avocado face masks. Mash up the flesh of an avocado and then apply a thin layer all over your face and leave it on for fifteen minutes. If you don’t use it all and you want to keep it in the refrigerator for later, just mix in a teaspoon of lemon juice and that will stop the avocado turning brown.

6. Exfoliate with baking soda

Baking soda is a great product for removing dead skin cells, and soothing acne. It gently exfoliates the skin and helps balance out the production of the natural oils. Make up a paste of baking soda and lukewarm water and then gently massage it into your skin. Baking soda can be a bit harsh for some people who have very sensitive skin, so try it on a small area of skin first, just to make sure that you don’t get a reaction to it.

7. Treat acne with aloe vera

Aloe vera can be used as one of wonderful, natural, homemade beauty treatments, it has really amazing properties and that’s why you see it as an ingredient in so many store bought products. You can use it as an effective treatment for acne, because it has antibacterial properties, which will kill the bacteria that can cause breakouts, and it soothes irritated skin and reduces inflammation. For the best results, take aloe vera gel directly from an aloe vera leaf. You can’t get much more natural than that!

8. Moisturise with raw honey

The best honey to use on your skin is the real, unfiltered, raw honey. It’s a bit more expensive than the runny, light coloured honey that you might usually buy, but raw honey is superb for your skin with all its enzymes and antioxidants. To give your skin a real treat, smooth some honey on your skin and then leave it on for fifteen minutes. That will give it time for the antimicrobial properties to work and it will leave your skin wonderfully smooth and soft.

9. Refresh your skin with lemon juice

Fresh lemon juice is a brilliant natural ingredient for clear skin and it can be added as an ingredient in many natural, homemade beauty treatments. It has citric acid, which exfoliates the skin, and it has plenty of Vitamin C, which helps new skin cells to form and it also lightens any dark patches on the skin. Apply fresh lemon juice to your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash it off with warm water and then you can use some cucumber slices to soothe the skin and moisturise it.

10. Use witch hazel as a daily toner

Witch hazel is a natural ingredient that is found in many different types of skin products, but there is no reason why you can’t use it at home as a home daily skin toner. It soothes inflammation, fights oily skin, and it will help to fight pimples and acne too. Apply alcohol free witch hazel to your face with cotton wool every day and watch complexion improve.

You are glancing over Cosmopolitan, and you see close-up images of this model marketing a jewelry product – her skin is looking PERFECT! The green monster is on your back now, and you want your skin to be just like her’s. Well, your vision can turn out to be a reality without having to use filters on your Instagram images. Sounds too virtuous to be true? Read on to find out some great beauty tips on how to achieve flawless skin.

1. Give your face a vapour kneading in the bath

We indorse not only using round gestures with your fingers, but also drumming in revolving gestures – starting on the brow, then the cheekbones, cheeks, and working down to the jaw. Massaging upsurges circulation and helps make your skin appear more dewy and bright. For additional help use an oil cleanser to make the most of hydration.

2. Use a charcoal sheet face mask

Charcoal. It detoxes and exfoliates your skin, and all you must do is let the sheet face mask sit on your face for 15-20 minutes while you relax. Then wash off and enjoy gorgeous, fresh looking skin.

3. Exfoliate with a washcloth saturated in warm water

My aunt is 70 and has no lines. Her secret? She uses a nubby washcloth to massage her face each day, using upward moving, round strokes. Try it, it works!

4. Use an overnight sleeping mask

Another great tip on how to achieve flawless skin is to use an overnight sleeping mask. Nighttime is the finest time to hyper-moisturize and work on a weary face. When you wake up, weeks of wear and tear will have come off your face. Trust us.

5. Bring out the natural flush of your lips

This beauty tip is not exactly for your skin, but for your lips. Find a lipliner that matches the natural color of your lips (natural, but a bit better) and apply it lightly to your mouth; through just enhancing your individual lip color, your skin will look fresher and extra lively.

6. Snap open an ampoule for any skin flare

It’s best to address your skin concerns one by one, as we all have different skin types and various skin needs. Just find a skincare product for your particular problem, be it skin redness, wrinkles or sun spots. Smear a few droplets of the liquid, contained in a pinky-sized ampoule, before your moisturiser to target-treat hyperpigmentation, dryness and spots, ect.

7. Practice mouth stretches

Did you know that your face needs exercise just as much as your body? So, every morning, channel your internal Eliza Doolittle and say A-E-I-O-U in an overstated method. Repeat three times. Facial exercises improve blood circulation in the skin, help reduce puffiness, and even can help prevent wrinkles from appearing. It surely can’t hurt, so we’ll let you be the judge.

8. Loveliness shouldn’t hurt

Irrespective of what beauty fortnightlies and well-intentioned skincare specialists say, skin shouldn’t get shoddier before it gets healthier. Bloodshot, sensitized skin is always a symbol of suffering—if your exfoliant, retinol, or skincare merchandise causes this response, it’s time to change your routine.

For example, some people experience slight peeling after using a retinol product. You can expect this impermanent problem to pass, but if the peeling perseveres and your skin becomes enflamed or delicate to the touch, use such harsh products as retinol less often or try a product with a lesser concentration of retinol.

9. Play it cool while cleansing

Avoid using burning or freezing water while cleansing: both are harmful to skin and can lead to lasting soreness and extend the staying time of spots. Tepid water should get the job done with any kind of cleanser—and be sure to mildly dab, not scrub, your skin dry with a soft cloth.

10. Skip the extended steam bath

Extended baths are calming for your muscles and your mind, but lengthy soaks stress your skin! Too much water is harmful to skin. Too much time in the tub literally breaks down skin, keeping its surface from holding on to healthy matters like fat and ceramides; so to stay on safe side, 20 minutes to half an hour of bathing is usually the best bet.

In conclusion, lip colours might change with the time of year, and brow styles might go from daring to reedy, but then again one look that never goes out of style is perfect skin. And by using the correct goods and methods, getting your skin to look as beautiful as superstar’s on the red carpet is in your reach.

Materialistic people have more Facebook friends – Research https://citifmonline.com/2017/11/materialistic-people-facebook-friends-research/ Thu, 30 Nov 2017 11:12:12 +0000 http://citifmonline.com/?p=378960 Social media is a great way to express your personality, but your friends list could be revealing more than you think—and more than you want. Social media is a great way to express your personality, but your friends list could be revealing more than you think—and more than you want.

Researchers from the Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany recruited a total of 531 Facebook users (mostly college students) to take an online survey.

The volunteers answered questions revealing how they used Facebook, such as how often they posted pictures or looked at relationship statuses, but they also revealed their personalities by rating how much they agreed with certain statements.

Answers helped rate how materialistic they were (e.g. “My life would be better if I owned certain things I don’t have.”) and how much they compared themselves to others, as well as whether they thought Facebook friends made them successful or helped them achieve their goals.

Find out which of the four types of Facebook users you are.

The survey first went out to a group of 242 users, then to 289 participants, but the results were the same, according to results in the journal Heliyon. Materialistic people have significantly more friends than people who care less about possessions.

“They tend to objectify their Facebook friends,” lead author Phillip Ozimek, MSc, says in a statement. “They acquire Facebook friends to increase their possession.”

The study didn’t specify how many friends the average materialist had, but participants in the first and second study had around 284 and 318 friends, respectively.

It wasn’t just about the number of friends materialists had, though—it was also about how they used them. Materialists are more likely to consider having lots of Facebook friends a sign of success and to use those friends for their own personal goals.

“As narcissists use Facebook for self-glorification, or people with low self-esteem for interacting with others and feeling better, materialists use it to acquire and promote possessions,” the authors write. Don’t miss this other personality disorder a Facebook obsession could feed.

The researchers also found a link between social comparisons and materialism. Participants who admitted often comparing themselves to their Facebook friends also tended to be more materialistic.

In the paper, the authors point out that they can’t be sure whether the materialism is a cause or effect. Maybe materialistic people like to “collect” friends, or maybe having a lot of friends means seeing the highlight reels of more people and then wanting what those people have. (Here are 9 ways to tell if you’re addicted to Facebook.)

Regardless of where the link comes from, the researchers stress social media isn’t necessarily bad; it can also be a fun way to keep in touch and feel good. “Social media platforms are not that different from other activities in life,” Dr. Ozimek says in a statement. “They are functional tools for people who want to attain goals in life, and some might have negative consequences for them or society.”
