Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan has denied he failed a medical at Reading leading to the collapse of his move to the Championship side.
He said “the reports about the failed medical were unprofessional” and “false.”
Gyan moved straight to the UAE to sign for Al Ahli on a season-long loan from Shanghai SIPG following news that he would require eight more weeks to reach full fitness with the English Championship side.
However after sealing a deal with Al Ahli and returning to Ghana, the 30-year-old revealed in an interview with Citi Sports editor Nathan Quao that the reports of a failed medical were untrue.
He said the deal with Reading was practically done and he was moments away from signing but when the club demanded that he skip the AFCON, he walked away.
Gyan added that “Reading’s demands were disrespectful so he walked away,” saying “I did not fail the medical.”
