The Sokoban Wood Village has received a Bosch Power Box which workers say would go a long way in ensuring safety and quality for their goods, in their quest of improving made in Ghana goods.
The established industrial estate which facilitates a working site for wood workers in the Ashanti Region, received the first of an anticipated 10 to be established Bosch Power Box.
The Bosch Power Box as explained by the Vice President of Bosch Power Tools Africa, Vonjy Rajakoba, is a permanent facility erected at working sites where there is a “concentration of artisans”.
The facility would grant wood workers in the Wood working enclave the chance to rent tools for work and a flexible paying method for power tools.
“Bosch is creating central hubs across the country to assist the thousands of tradesmen and artisans – including plumbers, carpenters, welders, electricians and artisans- in growing their business through providing access to the very latest in technology as well as technical training and micro-financing. In essence, they will now be able to buy or rent the very latest power tools developed by the world’s market leader and to be used at these central hubs”
The Bosch Power Box will also offer free and regular training to artisans.
“We will provide product application services on how they can use the tools correctly, maintain and service them and ensure a prolonged lifespan”
Mr. Kwasi Attah-Antwi, National Director of Rural Enterprises Project noted that the initiative by Bosch will go a long way in promoting Made in Ghana goods.
“The Ministry of Trade and Industry, through the Rural Enterprises Programme and GRATIS Foundation, having worked over the years in driving similar initiatives can confidently say that installing the Bosch Power Box within the Sokoban Wood Village and subsequently in other artisanal communities, will go a long way to ensure the delivery of quality finished goods which in turn will assure increased incomes and ultimately wealth creation.”
Some workers at the enclave were appreciative of the initiative by Bosch.
“We are very happy, we won’t have to use our hands again, and renting it will also help us, because we can’t buy some of the tools.”
