A Security Analyst and International Relations analyst, Dr Kwesi Anning has rejected accusations describing Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari as a failed president.

President Buhari has faced strong criticisms since he assumed office due to the persistent shortage of fuel and the rising cost of living in Nigeria.

[contextly_sidebar id=”qbM70oFnFuMLmU5OfemTlpWMbV3KUugh”]His APC party won Nigeria’s election last year after promising to fight corruption and improve the standard of living.

Speaking to Citi News Dr. Anning indicated that there are attempts to sabotage the efforts of President Buhari.

“Bahari has not failed. What makes people think he has failed? Transitional democracies and transitional politics create instances of instability and fear. Don’t forget Buhari has power forces against him and I think he is doing well.”

Dr. Anning observed that few years into his administration President Buhari has been able to instill discipline in Nigeria without changing any of the country’s laws.

“If you go to Nigeria now, there is widespread discipline in the country and Buhari hasn’t changed any laws, it is his person and dignity that is bringing about the change,” he added.

Fantastically corrupt

David Cameron had described Nigeria and Afghanistan as “fantastically corrupt” in a conversation with the Queen.

The Prime Minister was talking to the Queen in relation to an anti-corruption summit in London which was held last week.

“We’ve got some leaders of some fantastically corrupt countries coming to Britain… Nigeria and Afghanistan, possibly the two most corrupt countries in the world,” Mr Cameron added.
