The Information Services Department (ISD), an arm of the Communications Ministry, has apologized to President John Dramani Mahama and Ghanaians for the obvious errors in the brochures that were printed for Ghana’s 59th Independence Day Parade.

The apology comes after several criticisms from the public that the brochure which contained several grammatical and typographical errors were embarrassing considering that the event was also patronized by foreigners.

Photos of the grammatical and typographical errors went viral on social media.

The President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, who was the guest of honour at the event held on Sunday, March 6, was rather described as the President of Ghana in the brochure.

The Coat of Arms was also wrongly spelt among other errors.

But a statement signed by the acting Director of the ISD, Francis Kwarteng Arthur on Monday, said the department authored the content of the brochure and thus accepts full responsibility for the mistakes.

“The Information Services Department (ISD) wishes to apologize to the President, HE John Dramani Mahama, and the people of Ghana for the misrepresentations in the Event Brochure of the impressive 59th Independence Day Parade at the Black Star Square.”

“The Department, which authored the content of the brochure, accepts responsibility and wishes to unreservedly apologise for the development,” the statement added.
