An Accra High Court is to determine the status of the two members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), whose petition to the party’s Disciplinary Committee, led to the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Paul Afoko.

The legitimacy of the two, Madam Gifty Kusi and Alhaji Short on the Disciplinary Committee, is one of the five issues being raised by Mr. Paul Afoko’s lawyers.

The NPP’s National Executive Committee suspended Paul Afoko in October 2015 for “misconduct” following recommendation by the party’s Disciplinary Committee.

[contextly_sidebar id=”OAOBPkfd2PVEczHPSPHa1sWdZcM5YO8z”]Paul Afoko, who is challenging his suspension in court, argued that the two people were not properly appointed as members of the Disciplinary Committee and therefore did not have the standing to demand his removal.

Paul Afoko subsequently sued the NPP, describing his suspension as “unconstitutional.”

He is seeking an interpretation of the NPP constitution which he wants to be used as basis to declare his suspension as null and void.

The case has been adjourned to the 24th of March 2016.
