Another Ghanaian player is set to add to the swelling numbers in the English Premiership as FC Copenhagen have confirmed the sale of centre-back Daniel Amartey to Premiership title contenders Leicester City.
The transfer reported to be in the region of 6 million pounds will see Amartey who has been capped 6 times for Ghana at the senior national team level, fulfill his lifelong dream of playing in England.
The move was confirmed by FC Copenhagen Chief Executive Anders Horsholt, who revealed that the offer was too good to turn down.
“It is the best outcome for FC Copenhagen. It is part of our strategy as a club and a company to develop players to a level, where they get so attractive that clubs from the biggest leagues will buy them for large sums of money,” he told the BBC.
Amartey left the shores of Ghana for Djurgadens IF after scouts picked him out while he was playing for Ghanaian top flight side Inter Allies Football Club.
He is expected to fly to England for a medical after which he will sign a contract to complete the move.
Amartey joins Andre and Jordan Ayew as well as Christian Atsu who are all members of the Black Stars to play in the Barclays Premier League.
