The Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana(BoG), Dr. Johnson Asiama, has denied reports that he has resigned.
Reports on Monday morning in sections of the media suggested that, Dr. Asiama had bowed out from the central bank, after serving close to two years of his four year contract.
But reacting to the report after Citi Business News contacted him, he said he had not resigned but was on a 10-day leave.
”I haven’t resigned. I am on a 10-day leave. I will return to Ghana tomorrow [Tuesday]. I have been out in the last five days attending to some private family issues”.
Dr. Asiama was appointed on the 5th of April 2016 by then President, John Dramani Mahama.
He rose through the ranks after joining the bank in 1996 from Assistant Director, until his appointment as Deputy Governor.
He holds a PHD in Economics from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, and an Mphil in Economics from the University of Ghana, Legon.
