Black Stars forward, Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, was named Red Star Belgrade’s Player of the Year at the team’s annual gala held on Thursday.
Yiadom was awarded for his good goal-scoring form in the 2017 calendar year. So far, he has scored 39 goals in 48 matches for the club.
The matches have been across the Serbian league, Serbian Cup and the Europa League.
Yiadom’s most recent goal for the club was scored in the 1-1 draw with city rivals Partizan on Wednesday in what was the last match in the Serbian league for 2017. The league will resume in February 2018.
The player took to Twitter to express his gratitude to his teammates at the club for their contribution to his success.
Boakye-Yiadom currently is 3rd on the Serbian League’s top scorers chart with 15 goals behind FK Radnicki’s Milan Pavkov, who has 16 goals and his team-mate at Red Star Belgrade, Aleksandr Pesic, who leads the chart with 17 goals.
