If there is no policy requiring LPG tanker trucks and stationed tanks to have Flame Arrestor then there should be one immediately. All lpg tanks should have flame arrestor depending on the size (hotels, hospitals, schools, residential etc). The job of the flame arrestor is to kill off any fire automatically hence this could have been dealt with easily. There is also a similar safety valve in Cars which have LPG tanks installed professionally. The valve releases lpg in controlled manner incase of fire there by preventing any explosion unless the valve is not working. the LPG tanks in cars must be tested every year during their road worthy examination with lpg sticker issued for one year. the tank must be replace after 10 years of use (thus if it was installed as new). Discharge times(day or night), required tools and personnel during discharging, assessing the environment before discharging and check list log book for this procedure. This applies to both LPG and other petroleum products. LPG is safer than petrol and we must find the best way of using it.
