Consumers of riding services now have more options with the coming in of an additional app, Dropping.
Dropping which was launched on June 29th, offers three services to its customers.
The three include Taxi, Private and Elite car services.
According to the managers of the app, “the Taxi category offers people the usual painted taxis in Ghana, the Private includes private car hire while Elite offers high-end, luxury option for those who prefer luxury cars.”
Responding to the uniqueness of the Dropping App compared to others like Uber, Uru and Taxify, the Cofounder and Director of Marketing/Business Development, George Akomeah, said, “Our uniqueness is that we do not charge commissions on rides. We only take GH¢1 booking fee per ride.”
He added, “We have partnered with People’s Pension Trust and Gold Coast Fund Management to grow with our driver partners. We do this by paying weekly pensions and welfare for the first three months a driver registers with Dropping when they achieve 20 trips every week.”
Also, Mr. Akomeah remarked, “We are encouraging the drivers to contribute voluntarily to their pensions for the future and also empower themselves through the welfare provident fund.”
Ghana’s newest ride-hailing app, Dropping, launches three services in one app in Accra at the Achimota Transport Terminal on Thursday 29th June 2017.
Dropping offers Taxi, Private and Elite car services. This enables users or riders to choose the way they want to ride.
Innovatively, the app offers advance booking for all its services. Taxi and private car hire drivers can be registered on the app for free in any city or town in Ghana.
On his part, Co-founder and the Director of Operations/Finance, Mr. Frederick Sarfo said, “Dropping will take only one Ghana cedi from drivers per each ride irrespective of the value of the ride. All monies are paid directly to drivers by passengers.”
The event was organized by Dropping Apps Limited in partnerships with Ghana’s energy giant, GOIL, People’s Pension Trust (PPT), Gold Coast Fund Management (GCFM) and Interpay Africa.
GOIL is offering Dropping access to some of its service stations across the country so that drivers can register on the app.
Additionally, the energy giant has also partnered with Dropping to offer taxi drivers GOIL’s GoCard to enable them buy fuel conveniently and safely. By using these cards, drivers can win free oil service, fuel, lubricants and other souvenirs from GOIL.
Several taxi drivers were given free fuel coupons, lubricants, T-shirts, caps and other souvenirs from GOIL at the launch.
The app is available for Android and iOS smart phones.
