Telecommunication giant Vodafone Ghana is supporting about 600 farmers mostly women to empower them take charge of their economic lives.
The farmers, drawn from various parts of the country are being roped on Vodafone’s Farmer Club in a bid to enhance their communication needs with regards to agric.
Farmers on the club among others will receive mobile phones from Vodafone and communicate with other members free of charge.
The club members will also receive updates on how to boost their yields, weather patterns and also access to potential customers.
Speaking to Citi News, Chief Marketing Officer, Agnes Emefa Essah said the initiative is supposed to provide the farmers with easy access to information concerning their related crops.
“When anyone joins the club, the person is profiled if she/he is a maize farmer and we provide them with information on maize, weather patterns and we will also provide them with various prices of the particular product on the market.”
