32 Banks, about 130 Rural & Community Banks, about 30 Savings & Loans Cos., so many Microfinance Institutions, so many Credit Unions are just too many for the country.

Consolidation of some of these Banks should rather be encouraged.

Establishment of Banks SHOULD NOT be likened to creation of markets where anybody just stands up one day and begin to sell commodities. Please DO NOT make it so cheap for anybody to just enter.

Ghanaian Banks should be made to be world-classed, which can compete for big-time transactions both within the country and outside, and it is about time Mergers & Acquisitions are encouraged to see the Banks towards this objective.

The Bank of Ghana should not allow itself to be dictated to in so far as these Banks are concerned.
