Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur has said the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is not ready to take over the leadership mantle of the country as the party is divided.

He said a stable and peaceful country like Ghana needs a stable and united political party to steer its affairs and the NPP lacked that unity to rule.

[contextly_sidebar id=”kgnT5uqOkPPIPAeSZiw6MbBl9A5EEQpr”]The Vice President said this when he addressed hundreds of NDC supporters at Tikobo no. 1, in the Jomoro constituency of the Western Region as part of his four day campaign tour in the region.

He said, because of disunity in the NPP, its National Chairman, second Vice Chairman and the General Secretary have all been suspended and their crime was that, they failed to tow the line of its leader.

“As a democratic nation, it is required that all political parties subscribe to an internal democracy, so if you have a party leader that do not accept democracy and continue to dismiss those holding divergent views in the party, then such a leader is not ready to lead this country,” he said.

He said, unlike the NPP, the National Democratic Congress NDC has institutionalised internal democracy in the party under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.

“President Mahama who is a true democrat is always ready to accommodate divergent views in his party, hence the unity and stability,” he said.

Mr Amissah-Arthur is therefore urging the electorates to vote for President on Mahama on December 7, to enable him continue his good and fulfill his pledge to change lives and transform Ghana.
