The Director of the Computerized Schools Selection and Placement System, CSSPS, Kwasi Abankwa Anokye, has said the system has been enhanced to guarantee an incident-free placement this year.
The system was introduced in 2005; to electronically post Junior High School graduates into the various Senior High Schools using their raw score.
Parents and their wards every year complain about the quality of placement after the release of the postings.
In a Citi News interview, Mr. Anokye said although the system cannot be 100 percent efficient, there is enormous improvement now.
“I don’t know if there is any system in the world that is 100 per cent efficient. But we know that from what we have done in the past, since 2005, that we have greatly improved the system”, he said.
He said the various stakeholders in the education sector particularly parents, still doubt the system due to the failure of their wards to gain admission to their first choice schools.
“If your ward chooses Mfantsipim School and per his performance he doesn’t make it; you will naturally express that sentiment. Schools like Mfantsipim School are always over-subscribed. For instance, this year, we have over 6,200 people choosing Mfantsipim; but the school has told us that they can only admit 600. It will interest you to know that; half of the over 6,000 will have the required performance to make it into the school; so we have to select the top 600”, he stated.
