IS Dr. BAWUMIA TALKING AGAIN?

Intellectual
dishonesty is a failure to apply
standards of rational evaluation that one is aware of, usually in a
self-serving fashion.

If one judges others more critically than
oneself, that is intellectually dishonest.

THE
Strong Pillars of Mahama has noted with disappointment the way and manner the
running mate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Alhaji M. Bawumia has carried
himself over the period since he became a politician in the New Patriotic Party.

We
wish to ask if Dr. Bawumia is still the Bawumia we used to know years back?

Upon a call to become the running mate to the NPP
flag bearer, Dr. Bawumia has thrown all standards in the world of academia to
the dogs and seems to be dancing to the whims and caprices of the NPP for what
we call political expediencies.

The strong pillars of mahama wish to ask Dr. Bawumia
if he was the Bawumia we used to know during the Kuffour era or probably he has
allowed himself to be used by Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo; the same way other
members of the NPP are being used to perpetuate lies.

After Bawumia’s involvement in the election petition
which saw him tell series of lies and make dishonest statements in his bid to
throwing dust in the eyes of the public, we thought Dr. Bawumia was going to
sit down and pray for forgiveness but no, that was not to be.

We demand from Dr. Bawumia the outcome of his checks
on the remaining 90% of the Togolese voter register otherwise he should step
down as the running mate of the NPP.

Through Dr. Bawumia’s DISGRACEFUL
SELFISH CORRUPT ACT, two OFFICIALS of the Electoral Commission were sacked yet
Dr. Bawumia has the nerve to talk about youth unemployment in this country. Why
would anybody prevent the Strong Pillars OF Mahama from saying that Dr. Bawumia
is an intellectual dishonest person?

As
Doctor in academia, the strong Pillars of Mahama thought Dr. Bawumia would have
prompted Nana Addo to shelf that Frivolous Knee Jerk Promise of ONE DAM, ONE
VILLAGE since to us, it was doable but A BAD DECISION coming on the backdrop of
the negative effects of construction of too many dams in a given geographical
location. We know that as an intellectual, Dr. Bawumia would have known
something about WATER TABLE and the geographical location of the Northern
Regions.

Dr.
Bawumia should have notified Nana Akuffo Addo on the fact that, the promise of
ONE DAM, ONE VILLAGE, will amount to an insult on his integrity as a doctor so
Nana Addo should hold his peace. He failed woefully to advice Nana Addo. What
an intellectual dishonesty?

We
want to educate Nana Addo and Bawumia if indeed it was lack of knowledge that
led to that outburst among others, then the fact still remains that apart from
the geographical location of the Northern Regions which makes it extremely
difficult to access water because in some cases one has to dig up to 7km in
order to reach the water table, Dams have provoked opposition in many countries
for numerous social, environmental, economic and safety reasons. Some of the
reasons for opposition of construction of DAMS worldwide are:

1. The huge numbers of people evicted from
their lands and homes to make way for reservoirs.

2. The livelihoods of many millions of
people who suffer because of the downstream effects of dams: the loss of
fisheries, contaminated water, decreased amounts of water, and a reduction in
the fertility of farmlands and forests due to the loss of natural fertilizers
and irrigation in seasonal floods.

3. Dams also spread waterborne diseases
such as malaria, leishmaniasis and schistosomiasis.

We
all know the effects of the Bagre Dam each year when it over flows its banks so
why is Dr. Bawumia who is from the North looking on while Nana Addo puts the
life of the people in the north in jeopardy through this vague promise?

Dr.
BAWUMIA failed to tell Ghanaians how much it cost Ghana to do the REDENOMINATION
of the CEDI whose ripple effects have led to hikes in prices of goods and
services since many Ghanaians did not welcome the idea of those coins in the
lower denominations yet he goes about chastising government on moneys invested
on heavy projects that will inure to the development of the country.

IS
DR. BAWUMIA AWARE THAT THE FIRST STEP TO SMOOTH ECONOMIC TAKE OFF IS
INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT WHICH COMES AT A COST TO THE CITIZENRY?

Much
as we believe that government must account for every penny of the tax payers’
money that is invested in projects, The Strong Pillars of Mahama also wish to
advice Ghanaians against the likes of POLITICAL QUANTITY SURVEYORS like Dr.
Bawumia who churn out conflicting figures which to a large extent conflict with
figures from state institutions that are legally mandated to disclose these
figures.

By
Dr. Bawumia’s profession and pedigree in economics, one would have thought that
he should know the implication of churning out false figures into the public
domain as well as into the domain of the international community.

Parts
of the reason for hikes in goods and services, cost of projects and in some
cases unstable exchange rates in the country is coming from these falsehoods
that Dr. Bawumia and the NPP are churning out. They have used some of these
unfortunate public lectures to scare potential investors and this has
culminated into parts of the economic hardships we face today.

We
want to use this medium to advice Dr. Bawumia to do a self-check and to go back
to his old self, the DOCTER that he was when he was the Deputy Governor of the
Bank of Ghana. He should have the nation
at heart rather than thinking like the politician that he has assumed over the
last few years. We believe that Dr. Bawumia is better off an economist than a
politician he is trying hard to assume. May be he should learn from HIS
Excellency Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur, the Vice President of the Republic of
Ghana.

The
current government under HIS Excellency John Dramani Mahama has chalked a lot
of successes in the area of PEACE, STABILITY, INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT AND
FREEDOM OF SPEECH. In his next term as the President of THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA,
we know that there would be a smooth economic take off for prosperity and
wealth amongst the people of Ghana.

In
the light of this, we urge all well-meaning Ghanaians to rally their support
behind HIS Excellency John Dramani Mahama for a resounding victory of 57.3% in
the December polls.
