It was all glitz and glamour over the weekend as 160 students from the Joyce Ababio College of Creative Design graduated in a stunning ceremony.
The theme of Saturday’s event was Fashion Face-Off; Couture and Avant-Garde and that was evident early on as the young designers displayed some of their own designs in a great fashion show.
Model after model walked down the runway with some in very unique design and others in more conventional designs.
Following the show, some selected designers got a chance to compete for a place at one of the country’s topmost companies in the Vlisco Designer Competition.
The intense competition featured some top-notch designs by about 14 young designers but the ultimate prize went to Jonathan Djieagu whose designs were appreciated most of all by the judges and the audience.
Present at the graduation ceremony was the deputy Minister for Tourism Abla Dzifa Gomashie, who advised the new graduates to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available to them in the sector.
In total, 154 fashion students and 6 graphic designers graduated in the College’s certificate course
Mercy Elorm Dansu and Priscilla Scott-Obaro were presented with awards for the outstanding students, while other prizes were given to deserving students, including the most improved.
