The Supreme Court of Ghana sentenced two panelists and a show host of Accra-based Montie FM, to four months in prison each on July 27, 2016, after they were found guilty of contempt.
The court also fined the three GHc30,000, with each paying GHc10,000.
The panelists had on a radio discussion threatened to kill the judges for their handling on the lawsuit challenging the credibility of Ghana’s voters’ register.
The directors of Network Broadcasting Limited, who are the owners of Montie FM, were also ordered to pay a fine of GHc30,000. Zee Zee Media, which is the owner of the frequency 100.1 on which Montie FM broadcasts, was also fined GHc30,000.
The court ordered the contemnors to pay the fines a day after the ruling.
