Prominent broadcast journalist, Paul Adom Otchere, has dismissed reports suggesting that the People’s National Convention (PNC) is considering nominating him as running mate to its presidential candidate, Dr. Edward Nasigre Mahama.
The Chairman of the PNC, Bernard Mornah, had initially spoken highly of Mr. Adom Otchere saying his party would welcome the broadcaster as its running mate.

‘It started as a joke’
But Mr. Adom Otchere has put an end to any possible speculation saying he has not had any formal discussions with the party on the matter, explaining that “it started as a joke on TV and I have been laughing about it since I have been told about it.”
He recounted that “the conversation began with Edward Mahama when I interviewed him on television and was curious to know who his running mate was going to be and he said he had not taken a decision so I jokingly asked him to consider me and we laughed about it.”
Even if the PNC wanted to make him its running mate, Mr. Adom Otchere noted that he was not even qualified per the PNC Constitution.”
“The PNC constitution will require that persons who become running mates will be members of the party. I am not a member of the party. I am not a member of the party so I will be completely disqualified in the process.”
