The Ningo Prampram District Assembly has called on corporate bodies in the district to help it rehabilitate its many dilapidated school buildings.
Alhaji SaRhack Nartey, District Chief Executive, made the appeal in an interview on the sidelines of the fourth ordinary meeting of the second session of the Assembly.
He said the GHc 2 million project aims at rebuilding broken walls, re-roofing some blocks and repairing structural defects.
According to him, the stock of dilapidated school buildings was overwhelming and that the Assembly needed help to fund their rehabilitation.
He said such buildings posed danger to pupils and teachers as they even deter some children from going to school.
He commended companies for helping the Assembly and hoped that others will contribute to the rehabilitation programme.
Alhajj Nartey called on residents to support the Assembly by paying taxes, keeping their environment clean and play a watchdog on public properties so that future generations would also benefit from such infrastructure.
