The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has called on government to authenticate student vacancies declared by heads of various Senior High Schools.
Speaking to Citi News, the Vice President of NAGRAT , Angel Carbonu said an authentication system would help rectify issues relating to inaccuracies with vacancy numbers in various schools.
“The Secondary schools will give the numbers and education authorities will have to authenticate that the numbers given are correct. This is so that we don’t have a situation where over-subscription is done either by the head of the school or education authorities, or under subscription is declared either by the head of the school or education authorities.”
Angel Carbonu also decried the effects of the lack of authentication in schools.
According to him, a lack of authentication in various schools could lead to overcrowding and other challenges.
“Already class sizes are large and if you admit more people than the school can take, you are creating a situation where classrooms are over stacked, learning becomes challenged, at the end of the day, it also affects discipline,” he argued.
