More than 500 residents of Agortime Traditional Area have benefited from free health screening organized by the National Democratic Party’s Parliamentary Aspirant for Agortime-Ziope Constituency, Dr David Sunu.
The screening according to Dr David Sunu is part of his effort to bring healthcare to the poor and the vulnerable in the society.
Residents of Bedzame, Kortsrala and Atsrulume electoral areas covering about 15 communities benefited from the medical outreach. A team of 3 medical doctors and 5 nurses thoroughly examined the residents for various diseases including malaria, hypertension, and eye defects, as well as their cholesterol and glucose levels.
Painkillers, anti-malarials, dewormers, emergency anti-hypertensives were given out while complicated cases were referred to the nearest health facility.
They were also educated on regenerative health, to help improve their health status.
Prior to the screening, a youth group; Friends of Sunu made up of youth from various political parties organized a health walk in the town.
Addressing the participants, Dr Sunu advised them to vote for a Member of Parliament who will be easily accessible, competent to perform his parliamentary roles and compassionate enough to want to help them.
He promised to champion an improvement in healthcare delivery in the constituency.
