The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), has received from the Convention People’s Party’s (CCP), Youth League, the ‘better and further particulars’ it requested from the group, following their petition for a probe into President John Mahama’s acceptance of a Ford Expedition gift from a Burkina contractor.

The youth league of the CPP earlier wrote to CHRAJ demanding an investigation into circumstances surrounding the matter, but was asked by the Commission to provide concrete evidence that the President erred in accepting the gift apart from the claims published in the media.

[contextly_sidebar id=”tZIAZy7xwjqymHzuglaVhE02WyGHlvYC”]Speaking to Citi News shortly after presenting their documents at CHRAJ, Secretary of the CPP Youth League, Hardi Yakubu, was optimistic the new evidence will facilitate the work of the Commission on their petition.

‘’We have been able to give further and  better particulars  and those particulars in our view can go a long way to help CHRAJ in investigating further and bringing out the truth that we seek.’’

According to him, they have provided the Commission with ‘’audiovisuals that contain a whole lot of evidential materials’’.

When asked whether the evidence provided is different from what is known in the media already, Hardi Yakubu said ‘’the work of the journalist was the one which set this matter into discussion and for that matter it is invaluable to this case’’

The documents were received by the Registrar at CHRAJ, Daniel Afetsi who declined to comment further.
