Ghana and Atletico Madrid’s rising star Thomas Partey has revealed that his dad was so passionate about his career to the point that he had to sell some of his belongings when he had the opportunity to go to Europe.
Partey is now seen by many as the trump card in Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone’s deck, but all the attention and praise would not have happened if his father had not backed him at a critical time.
He told Citi Sports in an emotional interview that he was fortunate to have had such a father.
“My dad did not tell me this but I heard him say to a friend that he had to sell some of his stuff when I was first going to Europe. The people who were sending me there did their part but I think he also had to sort out some issues but that is it.”
Partey played in 13 league games for Atletico Madrid in the league and scored two goals including a key strike against Levante that earned his side all three points.
He also recently made his international debut for the Black Stars in their AFCON 2017 qualifier against Mauritius.
