Classes have resumed at the St John’s Primary School at Newtown in Accra.
This was after the school was closed down for two weeks after a group of about six men assaulted some female teachers in the school for punishing a pupil.
However, only one teacher reported for school when the facility was opened on Monday.
The pupil in question has however denied knowledge of the attackers.
But addressing journalists at the school premises, Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Alfred Oko Vanderpuye said the Police will henceforth provide security to the teachers while they continue to investigate the pupil.
“We will continue to provide security here as long as we need it but when the dust settles down the appropriate measures will be put in place. If she is found to have a hand in any of these activities I’m sure the appropriate measures will be taken.”
Meanwhile some female teachers of the school were taken through an identification session at the Nima Divisional Police Command on Monday to assist the Police fish out some 17 suspects who committed the act.
But after the identification process the women could not identify any of the suspects.
