The presidential running mate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, is on a one-day tour of the Ho West District of the Volta Region, as part of efforts to strengthen ties between the NPP and the region, largely considered as the stronghold of the incumbent NDC.
Dr. Bawumia upon his arrival paid a courtesy call on the chiefs of Tsito. He later joined the chiefs and people of Abutia-Teti where he addressed the enthusiastic crowd that met his arrival.
In his address, the vice presidential candidate expressed his gratitude for the friendly reception given him by the people of Abutia-Teti, which is the hometown of a former Minister of State in the erstwhile Kuffour Administration, Madam Elizabeth Ohene.
He reminded the people of the various interventions by the previous NPP government to improve the lives of the people in that part of the region.
The Spokesman for the chiefs in the area, Togbe Adza Kodzo VI, thanked the NPP government for the various development projects brought to the area during their regime.
He made mention of the extension of a motorable road which hitherto was not the case, and challenged the people to critically examine the works of the two governments to inform their choices ahead of the general elections in November.
Dr. Bawumia also paid courtesy calls on the chiefs and people of Dzolokpuita and Kpedze, after which he joined the Muslim community in Kpedze to worship at the Mosque.
He is expected to join the chiefs and people of Amedzofe and later pay a courtesy call on the principal of Amedzofe Training College.
