The ban on drumming and noise making imposed by the Ga Traditional Council is set to be lifted today [Thursday].
Churches, Mosques, pubs and others in the Ga Mashie Traditional will now be able to engage in their usual activities.
[contextly_sidebar id=”nqcBUn9QTIV9OWE78xuMEqgsr3lio0tv”]The Ga Traditional Council in May, placed a ban on drumming and noise making to enable them observe rites leading to the commemoration of their annual Homowo Festival.
The Homowo Festival, meant to”hoot at hunger,” is celebrated by the people of the Ga-Dangme Traditional Area.
There were no reported instances of individuals or organizations trying to flout this year’s ban. There were also no reports of vigilante enforcement of the ban as has been the case in years past.
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) warned against the trend where some private individuals and groups without any authority attempt to enforce the ban on drumming and noise making.
