The Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshall Sampson Oje, has issued a strong warning that the security agencies will deal with any individual or group of persons who attempt to cause violence before during and after the 2016 elections.
According to him, the security agencies will severely deal with any individual or group whose action threatens Ghana’s peace and stability.

Therefore let me use this occasion to caution anyone who seeks to use this election to undermine the peace, stability and integrity of the country that security agencies cannot and will not sit by and allow anyone to disrupt the peace that we have all toiled for all the years and continue to enjoy till today…”
Interacting with journalists in Accra today [Friday], Air Marshall Oje further stated that the security services are willing to collaborate with the media to ensure a peaceful election.
Security agencies will collaborate with media
“Ghana Armed Forces and our allied security agencies will continue to play their neutral and non-partisan role in support of the upcoming election. We and the security services are ready to collaborate with the press and ensure peaceful election.”
He also urged Ghanaians to contribute their quota to sustain the peace and stability the country enjoys.
“Let us continue to work together to safeguard the peace and stability which we have enjoyed over the years. This is our country. We have nowhere else to go.”
Police will be impartial
Meanwhile the Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Kudalor, has given the assurance that the police will be impartial in the discharge of their duties before during and after the elections.
“I wish to assure you that the Police and its security agencies shall discharge their mandate professionally without any fear, malice or affection towards anyone. The Police shall remain neutral and impartial in the performance of our duties. Already a lot of measures have been put in place to achieve our goal of ensure peaceful elections.”
Flagbearers, running mates to get full Police protection
The Ghana Police Service earlier unveiled its plans to provide protection for Presidential Candidates and their running mates before and during the November 7 general election.
The package forms part of security arrangements being put in place to ensure a peaceful electioneering process.
Ghana will go to the polls in November to elect parliamentarians and a President who will govern the nation for another four years.
