The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two security officers over the robbery attack on the Member of Parliament for Okere Constituency, Dan Botwe, in the early hours of today [Friday].
One of the two is a personal security guard at Mr. Botwe’s Tema residence, whereas the other is a security guard in the neighborhood.
According to the Community 18 District Police Command, the two were picked up following inconsistencies in their account.
The Minority Chief Whip was robbed at gunpoint at his Tema residence at about 12:30am.
Mr. Botwe, who is also a former General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) was reported held hostage together with his wife in their bedroom for about 45 minutes by the robbers.
Laptops, mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of money were stolen by the robbers.
Mr. Botwe is also the NPP’s Campaign Strategist for the November election.
The attack comes on the back of the murder of former Abuakwa North MP, Joseph Boakye Danquah, by a 21- year old robber who attacked him in his house early this year [2016].
