The Judicial Council is expected to meet today [Monday], to deliberate on the Judicial Service Staff Association’s (JUSSAG) indefinite strike.
According to Citi News sources, the council, which is the highest decision making body of the Judiciary, will explore ways of getting the workers back to work as negotiations on their salaries continue.
[contextly_sidebar id=”8Kq9FW61kYdwTJUEQFWMkqQvqORMNDJn”]JUSSAG laid down their tools last week over what they say is government’s failure to implement the consolidation of salaries and allowances for its members.
They indicated that the Judicial Council, after reviewing the conditions of service of staff of the Judicial Service, concluded in 2015 that the allowances and salaries of the staff should be consolidated.
After a thorough period of consideration, the Judicial Council forwarded the approved salaries in June 2015 to the government for implementation, but after over a year, government is yet to implement the approved salaries.
JUSSAG strike illegal
Meanwhile, the National Labour Commission (NLC), has described JUSSAG’s ongoing strike as illegal.
Speaking to Citi News, the newly appointed Executive Secretary of NLC, Lawyer Charles Adongo Bawa Duah, said the strike is illegal because JUSSAG failed to give the NLC prior notice before embarking on the action.
