The Ga West Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region has commissioned its first Community-Based Health Planning and Service (CHPS) compound at Ahiabokope near Adjin-Kotoku.
The facility will serve close to 2,000 residents of Ahiabokope, Ehukopeh, Agakopeh and Didikopeh all in the GA West Municipal Assembly.
The facility has a basic primary care, patient education and disease prevention unit.
It also has a maternity ward and an outpatient department.
Speaking to Citi News, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ga West, Sam Atukwei Quaye, said the purpose of the CHPS compound is to help fight maternal deaths and also encourage antenatal access.
He added that it will also bring health care closer to the community.
