The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, has been granted bail in the sum of GHc 20,000 with two sureties.
The case of assault brought against him has thus been adjourned to June 1.
[contextly_sidebar id=”I5ycN9bca8SshslREEO7w8FjZrZHHew7″]Chairman Wontumi was arraigned today [Wednesday] for allegedly assaulting the NPP Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Collins Amankwah and his Constituency Secretary.
The NPP Regional Chairman subsequently turned himself in to the Police on Tuesday after he was declared wanted by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
He pleaded not guilty to the charges of assault leveled against him when he appeared before the Asokwa Magistrate Court in Kumasi.
Meanwhile in the latest twist to the event, the Manhyia North MP and the Constituency Secretary, have written to the court seeking a withdrawal of the case from court.
