Nine months after the demise of the former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Biakoye in the Volta Region, Hon. Nana Akata Louise, the district has a new DCE.
The Assembly members voted massively to endorse the President’s nominee William Seddor.
Tensions were high at Nkosec with voting delayed for nearly two hours to allow for final lobbying. At the end of voting, Mr. Seddor secured about 87%.
Two months ago, the Biakoye assembly decisively rejected the nomination of Mr. Cashmir Mensah after first round of voting. He was not even given a second chance.
Prior to the nomination of William Seddor, assembly members and party executives sent a categorical statement to the regional minister and the Chief of Staff, that they were not going to accept some of the nominees and they indeed carried out the threat.
With the voting now over, the Biakoye District, which is one of the most deprived districts in the Volta Region, can focus on real developmental issues.
In an interview with Citi News after he was sworn in, William Seddor promised to make it a priority to bring all the factions within Biakoye together and ensure that the district lives by its name Biakoye, which means oneness.
Having been part of the Alavanyo -Nkonya peace process for a while now, Mr. Seddor William has promised to use his good offices to further cement the peace the two communities have been enjoying for a while now.
He vowed to do whatever it takes to bring the age-long Alavanyo-Nkonya conflict to an end.
Currently, Mr. William Seddor enjoys overwhelming support from the assembly members, the chiefs, and the rank and file of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Biakoye.
