Management of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has finally sacked the President of the Hospital’s Senior Staff Association, Charles Offei-Palm.
A letter addressed to Offei-Palm and signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu, Dr. Gilbert Buckle and cited by Citi News said the decision was taken upon recommendations by the institution’s Disciplinary Committee, and the termination of appointment takes effect from April 6, 2016.

Charles Offei-Palm was interdicted by the management of the hospital last month [March], for allegedly flouting the hospital’s media policy by granting an interview to an Accra-based radio station, during which he made some offensive comments against the management.
He was later referred to the hospital’s disciplinary committee.
The letter dismissing him said, “following your interdiction and non-appearance for disciplinary hearing, the Disciplinary Committee has proceeded in your absence and found you guilty of the offences leveled against you as per your interdiction letter. Upon the recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee, your appointment with the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital is terminated with effect from 6th April, 2016.”
The letter also noted that Mr. Offei-Palm will receive one month pay, in lieu of notice which will be paid to him at the end of April.
“You have 3 months, with effect from the date of your termination, to vacate your official accommodation and hand over the keys to the Head of Estates.”
Background
Mr. Offei-Palm’s termination of appointment comes days after KOSSA said it will not rest on its oars until the management of the hospital fully addresses their concerns.
KOSSA had accused the management of financial malfeasance, an accusation the management has denied.
About ninety percent of the members KOSSA passed a vote of no confidence in the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Gilbert Buckle, after accusing him of mismanaging the hospital’s internally generated funds and paying needless judgment debts while neglecting the welfare of staff of the hospital.
KOSSA’s call for his resignation received the backing of the members of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association at the hospital.
