Voting is underway in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary in the Ablekuma west constituency to elect a parliamentary candidate for the 2016 elections.
About 1200 delegates are expected to vote at the Dansoman Police station which is serving as the polling centre.
The primary has been delayed for nearly nine months following disagreements over the constituency’s voters’ register.
The incumbent Member of Parliament for the area and one of the contestants, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful is presently observing proceedings at the police station along with her opponent, Roni Nicole.
The third challenger in the primary, Theo Tetteh reportedly pulled out of the race and has announced he is going to the contest the seat as an independent candidate in the November polls.
Traders have taken advantage of the event to sell some NPP branded paraphernalia.
