An Accra High Court has em-paneled a 7-member jury to try the murder case involving Gregory Afoko, brother of former New Patriotic Party Chairman, Paul Afoko.
Gregory Afoko has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit crime and murder of the late Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP, Adam Mahama.
[contextly_sidebar id=”kRfYnxADvuuYJZk1gRn3eIlqVNrqp8Su”]He together with his alleged accomplice, one Asabke Alangdi who is on the run, have been accused of pouring a substance believed to be acid on the former NPP regional chairman which led to his death.
During proceedings in court today [Tuesday], Mr. Afoko’s lawyer, Israel Ackah, called on the jury to carefully assess the case at hand and deliver a just verdict.
Afoko denied bail several times
Afoko on a number of occasions sought bail at the Magistrate Court but was denied.
His lawyers had argued that he had been incarcerated for far too long and that his personal liberty was at stake.
