Reports suggest that the driver of the Metro Mass Bus transporting the students lost control of the vehicle after the brakes failed.
An eyewitness, Azeez Ummar, told Citi News the accident happened when they were descending an undulating road.
He said some of the students upon seeing the danger ahead tried to escape by jumping out of the vehicle.
“Unfortunately one of the ladies found herself under the vehicle and the vehicle passed on her head. She died afterwards,” he added.
