For over a decade, Citi FM has featured some of the country’s greatest highlife musicians such as Osibisa, Amakye Dede, Nana Ampadu, Okyeame Kwame among others, on its Music of Ghanaian Origin (MOGO) concert.
In 2015, the MOGO concert evolved into something bigger; the ‘MOGO Festival,’ which has the MOGO Awards serving as the icing on the cake.
The MOGO Awards seek to celebrate Ghanaian music figures and groups, who have contributed to the development and sustenance of world-class Ghanaian sounds and tonight’s event at the Alisa hotel will be no different.
This year’s Awards show will also feature the novelty of a dinner dance for the abut 300 patrons who will be clad in authentic Ghanaian apparel.
‘Iron Boy’ to make patrons sweat
Highlife legend, ‘Iron Boy’ Amakye Dede, is set to headline the Awards show and he has promised patrons a wonderful show in what will be his first public performance since the tragic car accident he was involved in that claimed the life of his manager.
Also featuring tonight, will be other highlife greats including Bessa Simons, Ebo Taylor, KK Kabobo and Bob Pinodo.
Highlife fans have already been given a taste of the rich Ghanaian art MOGO will be serving tonight, with the ‘3 Nights with Music Greats’ which featured Ebo Taylor, KK Kabobo and Bob Pinodo.
Awards will also be presented to some deserving nominees at tonight’s celebration of highlife.
Gasmilla, Sarkodie, Obrafour are among the nominees with the “Brother Brother” and ‘Mansa’ hitmaker, Bisa K’dei, leading the pack with seven nominations.
