The Chief Psychiatrist and Medical Director of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Dr. Akwasi Osei, says Charles Antwi, the man who confessed to plotting to assassinate President Mahama, will be sent back to the court in about a month.

He was hurriedly sentenced to ten years imprisonment in a trial that was largely condemned. He was subsequently released after renowned Human Rights Lawyer , Francis Xavier Sou, came to his rescue.
An Accra High Court ordered his referral to the psychiatric hospital for treatment after it quashed a judgment by a Circuit Court sentencing him to ten years in prison.
Speaking to Citi News, Dr. Akwasi Osei who said Mr. Antwi is in a relatively stable condition, added that they will furnish the court with a detailed report after the Hospital completes its medical examination.
“Charles Antwi is doing fine but he has not gotten to a place where we can let him go. We are hoping that in the next one month, he will be fit enough. We will not let him go, we will take him back to the court and the court can decide what to do. He was unwell; it is part of his illness that made him feel so big and so grand that he thought he was supposed to be President.”
We need extra security
The hospital earlier requested for security when the accused was sent to the facility for examination.
Dr. Osei threatened to hand him over to the prison where security is tighter if measures were not taken to tighten security at the hospital
“We will look at his condition, the risk to other inmates; the risk of him running away and against our security, and decide that yes, we may keep him here. But let’s get the policeman to guide him, or else we may give him up to the prison where security is tighter than at our end,” he said.
