The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Shai Osudoku Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Desmond William Ocloo, has been killed in a gory car crash near Juaso in the Ashanti Region.
The Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the NDC, Anthony Nukpenu, who confirmed this to Citi News, said the vehicle Mr. Ocloo was traveling in collided with another vehicle from the opposite direction.
“We received the news last night [ Thursday] that our candidate was on his way to the Ashanti region and he had a road crash at Juaso. He was confirmed dead in the crash. Some of our executives have arrived at the Juaso Hospital Morgue and have confirmed that he’s no more. He was driving alone and had a head-on collision with another vehicle. Both drivers died in the accident.”
Desmond Ocloo’s political life
Desmond William Ocloo won the party’s primary in November 2015, to become the Parliamentary Candidate for the NDC in the Shai Osudoku Constituency for the 2016 general elections in November.
He triumphed over the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, David Tetteh Assumeng, who has been in Parliament since 2004.
Mr. Ocloo during the primary polled 4,350 votes while David Tetteh Assumeng had 1280.
Other aspirants in the race included the Director of the National Service Secretariat (NSS), Dr. Kpessah Whyte, who polled 3,189 votes, while Ebenezer Adzakli had 393.
