The Minister of Finance, Seth Tekper, on Tuesday appeared before Parliament to brief the house on issues emanating from the microfinance sector.
The briefing was in relation to the issue in which managers of DKM Diamond Microfinance Company and other financial institutions have been accused of swindling monies of their customers.
[contextly_sidebar id=”k2WrSo68qMx70LDK6aayjGIHTgrHoSfy”]Huge sums of monies belonging to customers of DKM have been locked up as several efforts to retrieve them have proved futile for nearly a year now.
The Bank of Ghana, which is the regulator of the financial sector has promised to assist in retrieving the funds but that is yet to happen.
Briefing MPs on the issue on Tuesday, Seth Terkper said the Bank of Ghana has adopted a number of strategic measures in ensuring that such issues are not repeated in the future.
