The Management of state transport company, Metro Mass Transit (MMT) Limited, have announced they will not be increasing their fares despite the recent hike in the prices in petroleum products and the subsequent 15% rise in fares.
The management of the MMT in a statement said the decision is in line with their social policy objectives.

Meanwhile the company says it has increased the number of buses operating in the Greater Accra Region by providing 100 new buses to ply various routes.
14 new intra-city routes have also been added to the existing number of routes the MMT buses ply effective today [Friday], February 5.

Release of Additional Buses
In our quest to serve our cherished passengers better, Management of MMT has increased the number of buses on the various routes in Greater Accra with the addition of more than 100 buses. New Intra-city Routes In addition to the existing number routes, MMT buses will begin operations on 14 new routes effective Friday, 5th February, 2016.
Transport Fares
Management of MMT wishes to inform the general public that its fares on all its operational routes remain unchanged until further notice.
This is in line with the social policy objectives of MMT. It is further announced that passengers without METRO CARDS can also patronize the new air-conditioned buses through the traditional ticketing system.
All such passengers are advised to always insist on collecting their tickets when they pay cash to the conductors. Meanwhile, passengers who have METRO CARDS are to use their cards when boarding the new buses.
