The Bole District Security Council (DISEC) has started a manhunt for the unknown assailants who shot and killed two people at Dolla Power, an illegal mining community in the Bole District.

Unknown gunmen attacked members of the Bole DISEC who were on their way to settle a dispute in the area leaving one soldier and a female civilian dead.

Reports say the woman in question may have been killed by the assailants before the attack on the DISEC members.

It is unknown whether the gun men were robbers or Ivorian rebels who allegedly hide in the community and often extort money from travelers in the disputed border community between Ghana and Ivory Coast.

Speaking to Citi News, the  District Chief Executives for Bole, James Jaaga, said he has presented a report to Northern Regional Security Council on the incident to enable them track down the assailants.

Mr. Jagaa described the situation as delicate but indicated that the community was on high alert following a meeting with them to discuss the way forward regarding security concerns there.

“The community are already alert and they have put their local security in place. As a team, we will look at it together and make another step forward dealing with the issue there,” he stated.
