The Chief Executive Officer of Dalex Finance and Leasing Company Limited, Ken Thompson, has predicted doom for the youth of Ghana should the nation’s current leadership fail to take strategic economic decisions for the future.
Mr. Thompson bemoaned the fact the country has largely ignored agriculture, which is key to the development of the country.
[contextly_sidebar id=”4AgzPvs5DiPfGTFqI7AZ9WuFdBXdexwT”]Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, he noted with worry the fact that huge amounts of monies are spent on capacity building to the detriment of major areas that will grow the economy.
Mr. Thompson is of the view that, the country has the resources to drive development and that leadership are aware of what must be done to better the fortunes of the country, but they still act otherwise.
“It’s not that we don’t have resources; we have human resources, we have natural resources, we have the people. We know what to do, but I don’t know why we are doing this to ourselves,” he lamented.
He further warned that future generations will suffer for the failures of leadership.
“Every day, we do not do the things that we know we have to do, everyday, our children will suffer that much more. The sins of the fathers will be visited upon the children – our children will suffer because we are not doing the right things.”
He continued his gloomy prediction saying, “They will have no jobs. Even when they set up businesses, their businesses will collapse. When they go to the hospitals, there will be no equipment, there will be no drugs,” he warned.
