Government on Thursday freely distributed about 7,000 school uniforms in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern Region.

About 30,000 pupils from the lower and upper primary in the Municipality have so far benefitted from the program.
There has also been the distribution of laptops and other teaching and learning materials.

According to the Yendi Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Issah Zakariah, government was committed to improve the Municipality’s human resource base.

“If we don’t have a strong human resource base then we can’t develop as a country and that is why the government is spending a lot on education.”

“Since NDC government came into power we have seen a lot of interventions in education most especially in the Yendi Municipality. We can count a number of laptops that have been distributed to schools, furniture and also school infrastructure,” he narrated.

He reiterated government’s commitment to improve education in the Yendi Municipality in line with the Better Ghana agenda.

Alhaji Zakariah admonished teachers in the Municipality to desist from absenteeism and lateness to school.

“We have seen some improvements’ in the BECE results as the years go by and this means that our teachers are heeding to the rules and regulations of education. That notwithstanding we still have some bad nuts with us in our schools and we have intensified supervision.”

Some beneficiaries of Rhema International School thanked government for the support.
