Pressure Group, Occupy Ghana has given government and the National Communications Authority (NCA) ten days to fully disclose information and documentation regarding the Interconnect Clearing House (ICH) policy.
According to the group, all efforts to obtain information from officials on the policy have proven futile.

IMANI Ghana last Friday raised the red flag over Afriwave’s selection for the project, asking the President to dissolve the NCA board and discard the application evaluation process which gave the company the right to establish a telecommunication interconnect clearing house in the country.
A member of the group, Sydney Casley Hayford therefore asked government to establish an independent committee to probe circumstances surrounding the award of the ICH license to Afriwave.
“For the sake of good governance, the presidency must set up an independent body to investigate the license issuance process that was recently done against the background of the IMANI allegations and the back and forth of the NCA in order that we can verify or rubbish these allegations.
“Those are the two significant things we are asking for. That is what we are talking about when we say we disagree with the way the ICH has been set up. We disagree with the processes that went through for us to arrive at this end result and we really don’t understand the legality or illegality of how the ICH has come to live with us like the GITMO people.”
