The University of Education Winneba, (UEW) has enrolled a total number 8,838 students into its distance education programmes for the 2015/2016 academic year.
Out of this number, 8,838 are under graduate students and the rest of 259 are also offering post graduate programmes in education.
[contextly_sidebar id=”RTZ5KOM8DSDhNuuHGCzrvxF4fm0QZLo1″]Speaking at the matriculation ceremony on Saturday, the Vice-Chancellor of the school, Professor Mawutor Avoke said the school has expanded its study centres in the country to bring higher education closer prospective students.
“We have added six new study centres to the existing twenty-seven bringing the total of study centres to thirty-three. The study centres include Asamankesse, Denu, Ejisu, Krobo Odumase, Sefwi-Wiawso and Yendi. We will continue to open more study centres in order to bring higher education further closer to u.’’
He added the school has introduced two new programmes to give those without educational background the opportunity become professional teachers.
He charged the students who double up as full time workers and parents to use their time judiciously and also warned them not to cheat in examinations.
