The Ashanti Regional Police Command has deployed police personnel to restore calm at Agogo after threats from the Member of Parliament and some youth groups to stop all traditional activities in the area, following disagreements with Fulani dwellers.
“We have asked the Divisional Commander at the place to deploy men to ensure that there is not nothing untoward and also we have asked them to take appropriate security measures to ensure that any eventuality that may erupt is dealt with,” the Ashanti Regional Police PRO, ASP Mohammed Yussif Tanko said.

The residents after the demonstration issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the traditional council to drive away the herdsmen or face their wrath.
While advising residents of Agogo to peacefully co-exist with the Fulanis, ASP Tanko also emphasized the need for the appropriate procedures to be followed.
“I think it is an unreasonable demand to make ..We are in Ghana and we have laws governing the country so if you want to get a foreigner out of your country, you have to go through the accepted procedure provided by law but you cannot issue threats. I think it will not help anybody.”
“As a Member of Parliament for that area, my expectation of him was to maybe contact the security committee in Parliament and maybe they would have called the Minister of Interior for him to brief the house on what is happening to bring sanity to the area.”
