Afriwave Telecom Limited, the company believed to be ‘illegally’ receiving payments for a job Subah Info solutions is rendering to the nation in the telecom sector, has rejected the claims, and also dismissed reports that Dr. Omane Boamah, the Communications Minister, has shares in the firm.
The said claims were made by Member of Parliament for Obuasi West, Kwaku Kwarteng, who said he has cause to believe that the Minister of Communications has a personal interest in Afriwave.

Kwaku Kwarteng last week accused the Communications Minister of ‘criminally’ imposing Afriwave on the telecom operators in the country although a contract with Info Subah Solutions to track revenues generated from international, on-net and off-net calls in the country, has not yet elapsed.
The MP further argued that the move is against the laws of the country hence must be reversed immediately.
Although the Ministry in a statement denied Kwaku Kwarteng’s allegations, the MP still stood by his claims.
The Ministry said the NCA decided to allow Afriwave to carry out monitoring trials on the telcos so that “by the expiry of the existing contract in May 2016, the nation will not lose revenue as a result of the transition.”
But a statement signed by Donald Gwira, Director of Corporate Affairs at Afriwave Telecom Ltd, has reiterated that it has “not invoiced or been paid any money by the NCA for the monitoring of either international incoming or off-net interconnect telephone traffic.”
“Therefore, there cannot be any duplication in payment as the MP wishes to suggest,” the statement added.
The company further assured that it “will continue to work with all stakeholders as part of the transitional process to ensure that it is fully prepared to undertake the monitoring and validation of government revenues in accordance with Act 786 (International incoming traffic) and Act 864 (Communications Service Tax) when the existing contract expires in May 2016.”
