Asbury Hospital and Fertility Centre, a state-of the-art medical facility at Anwomaso in Kumasi, has organised a free health screening for hundreds of people in the area.
They were screened for HIV, hepatitis, malaria parasites along with blood pressure tests and other general medical examinations.
Children with worm infestation were also de-wormed.
The exercise was to herald the start of operations of the 60-bed well-equipped hospital staffed by specialist doctors and consultants in cardiology, urology, orthopedic, obstetrics and gynecology, neurosurgery and pediatrics.
Dr. Thomas Dennis, its Chief Executive Officer, said, the free screening was meant to aid the people to know their health status and seek treatment.
He said the decision to build the facility in area was to bring quality healthcare closer to the population.
As a gynecologist, he had seen many women go through enormous agony – to have children and the Centre would offer a one-stop-shop for women finding it difficult to conceive and give birth.
Dr. Dennis encouraged the people to take advantage of the facility to receive quality and prompt medical care.
